Structural Engineering

INCUS has an in-house design and engineering division based in the HQs in Istanbul, Turkey. INCUS Engineering division is capable of designing and detailing any type of steel & concrete structures, following several set of codes and standards.

Concept Design

GALPAN offers “Concept Design” services in the context of structural engineering. Our services help evaluation of several options and support the process of architectural concept design. Furthermore, the “Concept Design” process is an essential part of any feasibility study in terms of time and money.

Pre Construction

Pre Construction In Depth Evaluation

As part of the “Concept Design” process, INCUS offers in-depth analysis of competing options in order to help well informed decision making.

Design Assist

By focusing on design issues prior to fabrication, design-assist allows for improved procurability, manufacturability, constructability, transportability and installability, as well as mitigating the need for excessive change orders in the field, while controlling budget and improving estimated timelines.

In this process, we believe in the benefits of co-location, either physical or virtual. This is the key for success of the design-assist process in which owners, contractors, architects, and fabricators work together from the beginning to develop a plan for building the project.

Structural Engineering

INCUS may start structural engineering from scratch or may take over from a FEED (Front End Engineering Design). Whatever is the scope, INCUS executes structural engineering and detailing by seamlessly coordinating with manufacturing, logistics and erection processes.

As part of an integrated company, INCUS’s structural engineering is geared to cover the entire process from the concept design to the completion of the erection, including construction stage analysis and method of installation. This approach ensures predictability, thus efficiency.

Value Engineering

INCUS has an efficiency oriented approach to “Structural Optimization Engineering.” The sole purpose is not to save material but rather to make the entire process more efficient, fast and safe. One of the most important criteria is to move labor away from the job-site to the off-site where building elements are fabricated/manufactured.

3D Modeling & Detailing

Applied Science Engineering

In addition to standard frame element Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis, INCUS performs other calculations where needed.

Shell & Solid Element FEM Analysis

INCUS performs shell and solid element FEM analysis to engineer solutions for intractable details such as complex connections and moving mechanical parts.

Fabric Structures Engineering

Tensile Fabric Structure Engineering
INCUS collaborates with architects and fabric suppliers/installers to design and detail tensile/fabric supporting structures to achieve:

– form-finding,

– integrating building envelope into structural model,

– structural analysis of preferred form, and

– final detailing including shop-drawings.

CFD Analysis

INCUS performs CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) analysis of structures with complex envelopes such as stadiums and high-rise buildings susceptible of adverse wind loads.

Footfall Analysis

In order to reach higher serviceability standards, we apply footfall induced vibration analysis to floor systems.

Welding Engineering

Where is needed and/or necessitated by cost issues, INCUS executes detailed welding calculations in order to optimize the process. International Welding Engineers (IWE certified by GSI-SLV www.gsi-slv.de), members of GALPAN’s engineering and manufacturing teams, actively participate in the process.

Architectural Design

INCUS’ design capability is not limited to structural design. The Company has an in-house architectural department that can deliver for green-field projects. Having an architectural team eliminates coordination problems amongst project partner and by utiliziation of 3D design softwares such as Revit architecture and MEP prevents design mistakes and clashes early on. Even INCUS’ scope is limited to design and manufacturing for steel structure, a health check is always provided by INCUS’ architectural team for identifying coordination issues and the Client is informed about possible risks that may delay delivery process.

Manufacturing

Manufacturing for Tubular Structures

INCUS is capable of designing and manufacturing for projects requiring tubular sections such as stadiums. The manufacturing capacity for tubular projects can reach 1.500 tons per month, per shift.

3D Tubular
3D Assisted Manufacturing

3D Assisted Manufacturing

For highly complex structures such as stadiums and special projects INCUS can deliver flawless connections through 3D assisted manufacturing where cutting and welding phases are monitored by 3D total stations to keep critical manufacturing tolerances at minimum.

Third Party Inspections

By involving reputable Third Party inspection companies INCUS can assure its Clients that manufacturing follows design, welding is in compliance with AWS procedures and deliveries are on time. Inspection and Testing Plan (ITP), jointly developed by INCUS and the Client, is the backbone of 3rd Party inspections.

Surface Treatment & Painting

Surface cleaning and paint application processes, which are critical for corrosion protection and color retention, are handled by state of art “Automated Surface Treatment Line” which is 720 feet in length.

The process ensures that all INCUS products have excellent corrosion resistance, eliminating future costly on-site repairs and that the product is aesthetically pleasing, finished off with a color of choice amongst 200+ options from the RAL Color Chart.

The line is all conveyor driven and able to handle unusually big pieces up to 8.2 ft (width) x 9.8 ft (height) x 52.4 ft (length), and is one of the largest coating line for steel structures in the world.

Transportion & Installation

At INCUS, design team considers all aspects of transportation and installation to ensure that manufactured steel elements are all transportable and installable

Design team also  ensures that transportation and installation budgets are kept at minimum through different design scenarious to arrive at optimum design. ‘Construction  Stage Analysis’ is the key aspect to determine the method of erection.
